The Project
This house in the De Beauvoir area of north London had a complete makeover by Kudos with several significant changes to the floor plan. Thus, the renovation turned an old home into a modern family haven. The house hadn’t seen any major renovation work for many years. So it was high time to update not just the look and feel, but also the flow of the house. The result is a modern home that still has character and warmth about it.
Our clients had lived in the house for a long time before embarking on a revamp. This meant that they had a very clear idea of how they used their space, the shortcomings of their current layout, and thus how they would like to improve it.
The clients appointed Miiodesign as the lead architects to produce planning drawings and a design concept. And Kudos were the backbone providing project management and construction.
The Renovation
The renovation included two extensions and a complete change of layout to make room for a new kitchen on the ground floor, a new master bedroom with walk through wardrobe, and en-suite on the first floor. The front and rear gardens where completely landscaped with new fencing and planters. And conversion of an old sunken bunker produced a beautiful studio out-building.
The entire property was stripped back to the brick work, to allow for new insulated plasterboard to be installed, so as to achieve a more heat efficient home. The existing floor joists were removed to allow for the floor levels to be reconfigured, so as to create more head room on the ground floor.
The Outcome
The timescale of the renovation was nine months. Moreover, it took two weeks less than scheduled. Both the client and Kudos were more than thrilled with the end result. The extra couple of weeks meant that the client had time to settle in before the fast approaching pitter patter of tiny feet completed their new family home. A truly happy ending.
